Blackjack Terminology

It is safe to say that the world of Casinos is largely dominated by blackjack. The game though interesting could be very had to understand for a beginner and this is due to the lack of knowledge of the terms used by the professionals in the game. Deal is to give out cards to the players. Draw is to take a card from the deck. Hit is to continue taking cards. Stand is to end further withdrawal of cards.  Soft total is any face value of cards that includes an Ace that can be counted as 1 or 11 and he can continue to hit. Whereas a hard total is any face value of cards that includes an Ace but cannot be counted as 11 without getting busted. Ace, 6 is a called a soft 17 while ace, a six and nine is a hard 18. 3:2 blackjacks is one very common term that you will encounter where if you wager $10 you will earn $15 one you have a hand with a blackjack. “Shoe game” is a game where the tables use more than a single deck typically 6-8 decks for the game. All cards in such a game are dealt so that the values of the cards can be seen (Face-up). Contrarily, most games employ a single deck to be dealt for the whole game and these are called single deck games, usually preferred by seasoned players.
